It is a doctoral degree offering academic institution that remains at a relatively modest size of approximately 28,000 students. This allows for a stronger community orientation and the instructors have a solid educational relationship with the student body. In addition to the quality academic offerings, it has around 220 different programs and the school is well known for its strong community atmosphere and positive college life orientation it provides. In addition, the university continues to contribute to Southern Nevada’s growth and prosperity.

The Importance of Travel Insurance

  • Posted on April 16, 2011 at 12:00 am

Travel insurance seems like an optional expense. After all, when you are purchasing a plane ticket or cruise , the cost of insurance is presented as an additional add on and is not required by airlines or cruise lines in order to board. You won’t have to show proof of insurance when you go through customs at your destination, just show your passport and other required documents. If you think of travel insurance as a option that can be skipped over, then you’re making a serious mistake.

Foreign travel is a risky endeavor. There are any number of problems that could strike, delaying or derailing your trip. You could have luggage lost or stolen and you could even find yourself injured or sick without the funds needed to access medical care. Try to imagine what you would do if any of those scenarios came true. You may or may not be able to find medical professionals or other officials who speak sufficient English to help you with your problems and even if they could, if you don’t have adequate financial resources, you’ll still be stuck.

Travel insurance is designed to assist you in a variety of situations. By carefully researching Bajaj Allianz travel insurance and other options, you can find the insurance package that will cover your belongings as well as your financial and physical well being no matter what country or countries you plan to visit.

London Landmarks

  • Posted on February 20, 2011 at 12:00 am

A trip to London is on the wish list of many people around the world. They dream of the day when they will be able to travel to England and see the many iconic and historic landmarks that characterize this noble international capital.

Unlike more modern cities, many of London’s landmarks are centuries old. There are a few modern attractions, such as the London Eye as well as updated theaters and museums. However, most people go to London to escape into the past, and the city does not disappoint. In fact, a majority of the attractions on the London Pass fit the centuries old description.

No trip to London would be complete with visits to Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Buckingham Palace. Royal watchers may want to add stops at Kensington Palace and out to Windsor Castle . Historic sites such as the Tower of London, the rebuilt Globe Theater, and Tower Bridge are also not to be missed. The city is home to two classic churches, Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral as well as many old, quaint chapels and churches. Government fans will want to drive by 10 Downing Street and visit Westminster Palace to see Parliament and Big Ben.

Shoppers must visit the historic Harrods department store, one of the world’s greatest retail landmarks. Though not strictly defined as landmarks, London is home to incredible dining and world class theater that can be the icing on the cake of a visit to England.

Good Visitor Insurance Provides Choices

  • Posted on December 15, 2010 at 8:10 pm

There are plenty of choices out there for people searching for visitor insurance . In fact, anyone planning to visit the US and looking for medical and travel insurance may feel overwhelmed by the options available. They need to keep a few things in mind when looking for a good policy.

The best insurance companies are going to offer choices rather than cookie cutter policies. Yes, there will be some basic packages that are based upon reason for visit, length of stay, and number of people on a plan. However, there should be different levels of coverage and pricing to choose from. Policies that can be customized with riders to suit special circumstances are also preferable to boilerplate insurance.

There should also be choice built into the insurance. Patients should have options when it comes to choosing doctors, hospitals and clinics to visit. This way they can find the treatment that fits their medical condition. Of course, they won’t be given carte blanche unless they can afford very high premiums, but there should always be at least a few options to choose among.

Other things to look for are companies with excellent customer service and policies that combine medical coverage with other types of travel insurance to provide comprehensive policies. The last consideration should be price. While consumers don’t want to be cheated into paying more than insurance is worth, they also want to make sure that they are getting quality coverage, and that isn’t cheap.

Avoid Disney World Accidents

  • Posted on December 8, 2010 at 8:10 pm

Taking your family to Disney World can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You plan for months to schedule vacation time, make travel arrangements, and get whatever discounts and special event access you can find. Don’t forget to spend some time preparing for the weather and training your kids to follow simple safety guidelines. You don’t want to find yourself part of the many Disney world accidents that occur every year.

That’s not to say that your life will be in danger or that you’ll be victim of a newsworthy catastrophe. Most accidents at theme parks are much smaller — and many even go unreported. However, even the smallest fall resulting in scraped knees and bruised egos can put a damper on an otherwise exciting and wonderful experience.

Bring sunscreen, protective clothing, and sturdy footwear for everyone. Heat and exhaustion are the causes of most health problems. Make sure that anyone with medical problems has medications with them and that they stay off rides that are hazardous to their condition. Drill your kids in staying aware of their surroundings, not talking to strangers, and other common sense actions as a precaution against careless accidents and even theft . Lastly, make sure everyone — including teens and husbands — follow all park guidelines and engage all proper safety equipment.

Consider Living in Downtown Vancouver

  • Posted on October 3, 2010 at 8:10 pm

Unlike most North American downtowns, Vancouver is very livable and one of the most densely populated. If you plan to first visit downtown Vancouver, before living here, be prepared for a city that is on the go 24/7. Downtown Vancouver is crowded during the day: office workers, businessmen, tourists staying at downtown Vancouver hotels , and shoppers. By 6pm, most offices are closed, but the crowd does not. Mainly because there are more than 45,000 people who actually live in downtown.

Downtown itself embraces a number of positive neighborhoods such as Coal Harbour, Yaletown, Gastown, and Chinatown. Plus, a few more downtown communities that aren’t necessarily on the tip of everyone’s tongue, but worth a mention: Groundless Creek, Triangle West, Downtown South and Bayshore Gardens.

Yaletown was transformed from a repugnant warehouse district into one of the trendiest neighborhoods to live in. Coal Harbour is another topnotch downtown living space; tastefully designed to accommodate living, retail and office area. Gastown is the birthplace of Vancouver, lots of heritage, but may be too close to East Hastings, which is a not-so-good area. Chinatown, located on Pender Street between Carrall and Columbia Streets is the largest Chinatown in all of Canada, plus it’s considered a very historic district.

Singapore’s Legendary Orchard Road

  • Posted on September 16, 2010 at 8:10 pm

What began as a unnamed country road in 1830s has become Singapore’s “glitziest place to shop.” Orchard Road once connected pepper farms, fruit orchards, and netmeg plantations before being converted into a residential precinct in the late nineteenth century. Over the years it became a mixture of bungalows, mansions, Hindu temples and Buddhist and Jewish cemeteries. Early retail industries included wet markets and hawker centres and the first cold storage supermarket (built in 1903). Next came the C.K. Tang department store in the 1950s followed by the 1974 opening of Plaza Singapura, the city’s first multi-story shopping mall.

Today Orchard Road is over two kilometers of shopping malls surrounding a lushly landscaped main thoroughfare. The distinctive malls offer almost 800,000 sq m of eateries and retail stores. Nineteen separate shopping malls house over 5000 stores which cater to shoppers from the budget-conscious to the over-the-top big spenders. Over twenty Singapore hotels are located on Orchard Road as well as hundreds of restaurants, including fast food chains, specialty eateries and world class gourmet restaurants.

Orchard Road is the setting of numerous festivities throughout the year. Exhibitions, musical performances and seasonal festivals are celebrated here along with various promotions and special events hosts by specific retailers, hotels, and restaurants.
